Long, hot days at work make it hard to concentrate on the task in hand, especially when moisture build-up, discomfort and tension on your feet affect you and prevent you from performing at your best.
There are several recommended solutions for reducing foot perspiration and odor. Here are 4 that will help you work more comfortably.
The right socks
Here's the first easy-to-apply tip that can have a significant impact! Choose cotton socks, which dry quickly, breathe better and are easy to care for. Socks made from Modal, a natural fiber generally derived from beech trees, are also an option to consider, as they absorb moisture and are highly resistant.
Wash your socks every day
This is a rather basic tip, but it's a very important one. Odor is generated by bacteria, but as bacteria proliferate, odor becomes increasingly difficult to control, as it becomes embedded in the fibers of the shoes themselves. That's why it's important to change your socks every day and put them in the wash. If you often work in hot weather, it might even be a good idea to bring along another pair of socks to change into during the day.
Allow your shoes to dry
To limit the spread of odors, it's important to let your boots dry as soon as possible after work. However, the ambient air may not be sufficient to dry them out completely. To absorb perspiration and odors more quickly, crumple up newspaper and leave it in your boots overnight. This little trick will save you a lot of trouble!
Use a shoe deodorizer
If none of the above tips has solved the problem, there are products on the market to combat even the most stubborn odors. We suggest Walter's shoe deodorizer. Spray the inside of your shoe and the solution will neutralize the odors inside. Now you can be sure of optimum comfort!
